II. Ante-Origo — Before the Origin

II. Ante-Origo — Before the Origin

Before the shaping of the continents, when Terranis still slumbered beneath the Veil of Unnamed Dust, the Obligators beheld the slow turning of the proto-sphere. They saw that every grain, every fold of stone, every hidden vein of metal carried within it a covenant older than breath. For matter remembers its maker, and the maker remembers the debt of matter.

Thus they proclaimed:

From the First Stirring to the Last Silence, all things bear witness to their beginning.”

And in the deep places of the forming world, the Stone murmured, and its murmur became strata; and the strata became record; and the record became law.

For Terranis is not merely a sphere of earth, but a ledger of creation, inscribed in pressure and time. Every mountain is a clause, every cavern a footnote, every river a flowing amendment to the primordial decree. And those who walk upon Terranis walk upon testimony.

Therefore the Obligators carved the second inscription, that none might forget:

What rises from the earth shall one day return to it, and in returning, be made whole.”

And the Stone, patient and unbroken, accepted the charge.
